April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, a time when we raise public awareness about sexual assault and educate individuals on how to prevent sexual violence and where to seek resources.

Did You Know?
  • Every 2 minutes someone in the USA is sexually assaulted.
  • Each year there are about 293,000 victims of sexual assault.
  • 1 in 5 women will be sexually assaulted while at college.
  • 42% of college women who are raped tell no one about the assault.
  •  1 in every 4 girls and 1 in every 6 boys will be sexually assaulted before their 18th birthday.
How You Can Help!
This year, we have multiple opportunities for you to get involved and help us raise awareness! Don't forget to spread awareness on social media using #SAAM. Click here to see our calendar of events.

Volunteer Hours Help Safe Alliance Purchase Food

Did you know that your volunteer hours could turn into dollars? Thanks to our partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank, groups who go and volunteer at the food bank can log their hours and donate their time to Safe Alliance. After the hours have been logged, Safe Alliance can then use those hours as shopping credits to purchase items during weekly shopping trips, which helps us provide three meals each day for our clients. This is a great opportunity for large groups and families. Interested in volunteering? Contact Tenille.Banner@SafeAlliance.org.

From Our Domestic Violence Shelter's Community Living Team

At the Shelter, our Community Living Advocate recently hosted a group activity focused on the discussion around what a "safe" place meant to our residents. The evening included classical music and materials to create whatever came to mind. Below you will find beautiful pieces from this creative art session.
