It's Time to Walk A Mile in Her Shoes

There is an old saying: "You can't really understand another person's experience until you've walked a mile in their shoes." Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® asks men to literally walk one mile in women's high-heeled shoes. It's not easy walking in these shoes, but it's fun and it gets the community to talk about something that's a really difficult to talk about: gender relations and men's sexualized violence against women.
Now it's your turn to join the fun with Safe Alliance at this year's Walk A Mile in Her Shoes. Last year the event was named Reader's Choice Best Charity Event by Creative Loafing, making it a can't miss experience. Plus this year we have some BIG surprises up our sleeve so register today!

Join us at Charlotte Pride

We are excited to have a booth at this year's Charlotte Pride festival on August 26th and 27th! This is a great opportunity to increase outreach and awareness to the LGBTQ community. Stop by our booth from Noon - 10pm on Saturday or Noon - 6pm on Sunday to meet our staff, pick up great swag, and of course celebrate Charlotte Pride!

Around the Shelter

This summer, Verizon Wireless employees collected over 600 swimsuits for children at the Shelter! Our children will now be prepared to participate in fun activities such as water play day hosted by volunteers at the Shelter, and field trips to local splash pads. Many children are also participating in our partner summer camp program at The Freedom School, where they will go swimming each week. As a result of Verizon's generous contribution we were also able to share with other youth-focused nonprofits and provide swimsuits for children at The Relative's and Strafford Richardson YMCA.
