Denim Day 2019

When: 4/1/2019 - 4/30/2019 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Where:
Charlotte, North Carolina
TAKE A STAND ON #DENIMDAY (April 24).

In 1999, an Italian High Court overturned a rape conviction after declaring that, because the victim wore tight jeans, she had to help remove them, and removing the jeans signaled consensual sex, not rape. Enraged by the verdict, women protested the ruling by wearing jeans on the steps of parliament. As news of this decision spread internationally, so did the protest.

#DENIMDAY WAS BORN.

Join Safe Alliance in showing your support for survivors and raising awareness about the devastating impacts of sexual violence and how to prevent it.

Organizations can participate by encouraging employees to wear jeans one day in April. Email Sydney Hammond to participate. To hold a meaningful fundraiser, employees or organizations can donate online at www.safealliance.org/denimday.
